ELL students, from kindergarten through sixth grade, were able to pick out 5-6 free books to read this summer. Research has shown that students who read over the summer can prevent summer slide. Reading helps them to practice all the skills and strategies they learned during the school year. As a result, they don’t slide backwards in their learning but are better prepared to start the next school year.
