Band
The Clermont Band program is open to any interested 5th or 6th grader. Beginning instruction is provided for the following band instruments:
- Flute
- Oboe
- Clarinet
- Alto Saxophone
- French Horn
- Trumpet/Cornet
- Trombone
- Baritone/Euphonium
- Tuba
- Percussion (Bells/Snare Drum/Bass Drum)
Students will typically meet once a week for their band lesson, and individual practice outside of school is expected in order to make sufficient progress.
Beginning band students can expect to perform at our Spring Concert, while Advanced Band students will also perform at our Winter Concert. In addition, other performance opportunities may be offered in both individual and small group settings later in the year. This is a great experience for your child to learn an instrument, experience performing in public, and deepen their appreciation of music.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does band cost?
While instruction is provided at no cost to the student, the student must provide their own instrument.
- Does the school provide the instruments?
Due to a limited inventory, students are asked to provide their own instrument. Rental information will be distributed following your child’s final instrument selection. (If your child is on free or reduced lunch, Fairfax County will provide you with an instrument at a reduced rate, which is limited to flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion only.)
