Students in Ms. Terrone’s fifth grade class learned about the effects of cyberbullying and how to be an “upstander” instead of a “bystander.” Using the Common Sense website, students read scenarios about cyberbullying and made choices about how to handle them. The wiser and braver their choices, the more their cyber critter evolved! To reflect on the day’s lesson, students created “text messages” to cyberbullies, targets, and bystanders giving them advice or a message as an upstander.
